Super Street Figher IV: 3D Edition Review

Developed by Capcom, and Co-developed by Dimps, Super Street Fighter 4 brings a new meaning to fighting, with in-depth 3D. The game brings back all your favorite characters and is accompanied by severe and epic battles.

Gameplay

Super Street Fighter IV features a lot of different modes to choose from. Let's start off with the arcade mode. The arcade mode allows the play to either play with a CPU through tournaments and continuous fighting or the player gets to fight CPU's while waiting for an online opponent who is also playing the arcade mode at the same time. This is a nice way to wait for your matches, but then again the game is known for giving you quick matches right at the second you want them, which is really good. The second mode I'd like to mention would be the versus mode which allows the player to fight against CPU's with the choice of having the CPU be really easy or insanely hard. The third mode is 3D versus which is basically the same as "Versus" except for the fact that you fight your opponents in a 3D perspective in which you can see your surroundings better, but you'll have to get use it since it's not as simple as side-scroll fighting. The fourth game mode was the most anticipated mode of this game when it was about to be released, online matches! Now, in this mode it's quite obvious of what you're supposed to be doing. The internet matches was made so that both professional gamers may play among the professionals, and the beginners may practice with other beginners, but then again, there is always professional vs. beginner matches that always pop up. The player has the ability to choose whether he or she wants to play against, and what I mean by this is that you may choose what you want your opponent's abilities to range from (skills, points, etc...). Last, but not least, we have our training mode, which is self-explanatory.

Controls

In the game you have the choice to pick whether or not you'd like to use the 3DS's circle-pad or its d-pad. These pads allow the player to move their characters to move backwards, forwards, jump, and crouch. You may also see special moves at the bottom screen, these are all the special moves that your character can do. These special moves at the bottom are a feature of the "Lite mode" setting. This setting allows you to use the special moves without continuously pressing buttons in order to make combos. If and only if you don't like this feature and you think you can handle pressing lots of buttons to summon your special move, then you should consider using the "Pro mode" setting which has this feature.

Music/Appearance/Graphics

The game has a lot of neat areas to fight in, but they look a lot better if you turn up your 3D. You see; if you leave it off, you'll only see the background as a flat image, but what's unique about this game is that you can see the map in in-depth 3D where it pushes the whole background further back. (Then again, I wish that people in the background in some maps, actually moved instead of being static). The game music is quite amazing, but some of the quick tones of moving around different modes (that weird sound when moving up and down the menu) can get a little annoying.

Extra Features

The game allows you to collect figures which apparently fight each other during streetpass mode with other people.

Overall, the game is considerably one of the greatest 3DS games there is to buy. I'd highly recommend getting the game if you're interested in the following: epic battles, ok I can't name a lot; this is a fighting game lol.

Pros

  • The game has an online mode to test your skills.
  • Very good graphics
  • In-depth 3D

Cons

  • Internet match is full of people who continuously use the same move over and over.
  • Fighting games essentially get boring very quickly. (This is why I’ve already seen a lot of copies of the game "Used" at several GameStop stores, which gives you some proof).

Overall

  • Gameplay: 9/10
  • Audio: 9/10
  • Graphics:9/10
  • Controls:10/10
  • Overall: 9.25/10
