Modern Warfare 3 Review

Intro
November 8th 2011 was a very chilly night, it was 11: 55 p.m., there was a sealed entrance to retailer, lots of fans screaming, fans drinking Mountain Dew advertising MW3 and an enormous line of games waiting for non-other than the release of MW3. On that same night, many other retailers and public areas were celebrating the release of Modern Warfare 3. The game, after that night of constant gameplay, was eulogized by majority of fans, but was also heavily criticized by a portion of the population of gamers whom have played the game. The game has its ups and downs, and the mere fact that it looks quite like MW2, but we'll get into details later.
Gameplay
Summary
MW3 has a variety of modes that range from Single player to Multiplayer. The game also has Special ops, and a survival mode which includes co-op abilities. MW3 also includes the ability to record your gameplay to Theater mode, followed by Call of Duty Elite, which is an application included on the PS3, I'm not quite sure it was put on Xbox live, but anyways, the application allows you to connect with other gamers, compete at your own skill level for real prizes and digital trophies, and finally elevate your multiplayer game, as said from the official site.
Modes
In total there are 3 modes in the game, which include;
Campaign Mode
The game picks up where Modern Warfare 2 left off. Soap, a member of the Task Force 141, is gravely injured, along with Price who aids Soap as well as Yuri, while Makarov is still on the loose. The campaign introduces players to different areas of the world which include; India, Somalia, Germany, United Kingdom, West Africa, Siberia, Arabian Peninsula, Czech Republic, France, and finally the United States of America.
Multiplayer Mode
MW3 has an intense multiplayer experience. The game has an entire different system for unlocking new weapons, unlike Call of Duty Black Ops, Modern Warfare 3 utilize the currency system, instead you gain levels to unlock new weapons. There are also a variety of new additions to the multiplayer experience. The player has the ability to level up their weapon, as the weapon gains levels, your weapons gains “proficiencies” which includes; Kick; a proficiency that reduces a weapons recoil, Range; increases a weapons range, Equip 2 attachments, Melee; increased melee speed, and much, much more. In MW3, each prestige is set for 80 levels. There are also two new game types that were added onto multiplayer which includes; Kill confirmed; which is basically having two teams facing each other, and for each kill, the enemies dog tag shows up and you must obtain it to add on to the teams overall score, and finally team defender, is basically capture the flag… except one person captures the flag and you must defend that player from the opposite team. The killstreak system has changed to strike change, which allows the player to killstreaks from an Assault strike package, a Support strike package, and finally a Specialist strike package. Do you guys remember the tactical nuke? Well that has been changed to a new kind of disastrous demolition called the M.O.A.B which doesn’t actually destroy everyone in the whole game, but instead destroys the opposite team. Other features in MW3’s multiplayer experience includes; Theather mode, Online Split Screen, 16 given maps, Killstreak stacking, and finally, the pointstreak system restarts after the end of the player’s last pointstreak.
Special Ops Mode
MW3's special ops mode includes multiplayer capabilities, as well as unlocking new missions and equipment. In the special ops mode, players must battle waves of enemies across maps that are seen on the multiplayer mode. As the player progresses through waves of enemies, each wave increases in difficulty. The multiplayer capability allows a player to receive help from a random player.
Appearance/Audio
Call of Duty MW3 has decent graphics, the music in the game is well composed, and I’d like to also mention that the game’s music was composed by a well-known music composer named Brain Tyler who is extremely talented.
Pros
- Good weapon Variety
- Unique Maps
- In depth Multiplayer experience
- Thrilling campaign
Cons
- Horrible Spawn System (might be fixed in the future)
- A portion of the maps are small
- Second Chance was thought to be vanished from MW3, but instead Second Chance is actually still here, expect now it has a new name; Last Stand.
- Glitches were already found, an example would be going inside a truck on the map called OutPost.
MW3 may be a brand new game, but it seems to have fierce competition this year, which includes the addition of Battlefield 3. Although there are some critical reviews on MW3, I’d stay the game is a pretty good game, but not all of it is perfect. Overall the game has an intense multiplayer experience as well as a thrilling campaign; all this makes MW3 a bit more enjoyable.
