M.A.G Review

Massive Action Game or M.A.G, for short, is a massive multiplayer first person shooter game developed by Zipper Interactive. The game, as a massive action game, can hold up to 256 players in a match. The game was released back in 2010, though many fans, such as I, still play and enjoy the game. M.A.G is one of the only games I've seen that can hold that many players at once in one online match. M.A.G contains some basic first person game elements, but incorporates its own twist's as well.

M.A.G is a first person shooter game with a sole focus on online gameplay, which means that this game doesn't have a story mode, nor is there any other game modes; it just simply has an online game mode. During online gameplay, when you first start up the game, you are given the choice of customizing your own character, this includes; skin color, voice, as well a faction. There are a total of 3 factions, S.V.E.R; a faction consisted of a small group of combatants that are brought up from India, Russia, and China, Valor; a faction consisted of U.S forces accompanied by combatants from Mexico, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and finally, Raven; a faction centered in Europe, specifically Austria. This is one of the greatest features on M.A.G, mostly because of the competition between factions and it really feels like your part of a huge war-crazed family of combatants from around the world, competing to conquer over the other factions. M.A.G's online game play mode consists of four action packed sub-game modes to play in.

M.A.G has a total of four game modes to play online. The modes consist of the following;

Sabotage; a game mode of a total of 64 players, 32 players on each side, the main objective of this game mode is to safeguard a total of two satellite uplink centers, these centers are labeled as, A and B. Once one team has taken over both A and B, a base labeled as, "C" will appear, and the opposite team must protect that base.

Acquisition; a game mode of a total of 128 players, 64 players on each side, the main objective of this game mode is to capture two prototype Escort Vehicles.

Suppression; a game mode of a total of 64 players, and the game mode is basically a team deathmatch.

Domination; a massive game mode with a total of 256 players, and the main objective in this mode is to take control of two burnoff towers.

M.A.G also features downloadable DLC's, and in this case, DLC's include new game modes, which brings the introduction to the Interdiction and Escalation DLC's. Another feature that I find amazing in this game is that M.A.G incorporates customization for characters that you make in the game, these include, sunglasses, helmets, armor, etc. The game has its own leveling system as well, mostly common in FPS games, players are allowed to level up until the limit which hits at 70. M.A.G also incorporates a class system, in which players are able to choose where experience points go in a particular class for their character, these include; Marksman, Assault, Special Ops, Engineering, Close Quarters, Medical, Resistances, Athleticism, and finally, Vehicles. The only problem I can find in this game is that there are random connection time outs at times during intense gameplay; I’ve had issues connecting to the game server at times which was quite annoying. The visuals in the game are not bad at all, there's detail for the overall landscape as well as beautifully crafted backdrops.

Pros

  • Massive amount of players.
  • A variety of customization abilities.
  • DLC's.
  • Intense multiplayer experience.

Cons

  • Connection time outs.
  • The ability to attack your own teammates (Yet it can be quite fun and hard to resist.).

Overall, M.A.G is a great online first person shooter game; it has both intense online gameplay, and a great combination of features. The game may be at least two years old, but it's still worth buying. I’m quite sure there might be a M.A.G 2 coming out, but I'm not 100% sure.

Overall

  • Appearance/Graphics: 9/10
  • Features:8/10
  • Gameplay 9/10
  • Overall: 8.6/10
