Advance War Dual Strike
Intro
Advanced war dual strike was first introduced to the Nintendo DS, and is considerably one of the best games for the handheld. The game is a turn-based game which was developed by intelligent systems and was published by Nintendo. The game was released in 2005 for North America, Japan, and Europe, and was released in 2006 for Australia.
Story
You may recall the Black Hole Army; well they have a new commander in this game whose name is Von Bolt. Basically, Bolt is removing energy from Omega land and using it to give himself eternal life. Bolt also has a type of weapon called the Oozium 238 which is basically a type of monster that eats anything in its path. Hawke finds out about this Von Bolts plot and tries to stop him, and at the end all the energy in the land is restored back to Omega Land.
Gameplay
The game is made as a turn-based game, meaning that you take turns with the enemy to destroy each other’s army using different arms, and weapons. This is also a strategy game, meaning that it isn’t easy defeating an enemy without moving your artillery on specific areas where your opponent will be vulnerable to attacks. The game displays a variety of character that you may customize in only one area; color.
The game also has a variety of new modes which include; Combat Mode, which allows the player to capture the enemies Head Quarters, or defeat all its artillery. In this mode players do not take turns, since this mode is based on real time, where you must use four types of units which include; Recon, Mech, Tanks, and Artillery. This mode is compatible to multiplayer via wireless.
The other new mode included in this game is non-other than Survival mode. You are given a limited amount of money, and turns in this mode. This is also a real-time match which means, no taking turns with the enemy.
The game also includes a multiplayer mode which branches out into two modes to play from which are; Versus mode, which allows the person who owns the game to play wirelessly with other players who don’t have the game, and Link mode which is the opposite, because in order to play in link mode you must have a copy of Dual Strike.
Now let’s move on to the campaign mode. The campaign in Dual Strike includes a total of 28 missions which are based on the games storyline. Each time you defeat a mission a player is awarded a rank which ranges from C (being the lowest of ranks) to S (being the highest of the ranking system). The rankings are based on your performance which includes how many enemies where defeated in each turns as well as a variety of things you have done in battle. You may also adjust the amount of difficulty you want the campaign to be.
Graphics/Sound
The maps made in the game as well as the graphics are pretty amazing. As well as the sprites that are represent the Mech’s, Recon’s, Tank’s, and Artilleries. The characters in the game are drawn in an anime type of form which is very, very amusing to me in some way. Some of the music in the game is epic, but other can get cheesy and obnoxious.
Conclusion
The game is overall fun, and it last's very long, but after playing for hours you'll definetly get bored of it like any other game unless those other games your playing have more things to do in them. Some of the sound tracks of this game are cheesy than the others. The game has a variety of modes that I like such as Combat mode and Survivor mode, which really gets the game going. Other than that other gaming sites have gave this game a praise which is a sign that this game was in fact really good.
